| Another round of training Monday evening brought Instructor Todd Stahl from WhiteCap Water Rescue Training to the 52 house. This was the second trip to Christiana for Todd as he taught a Water Rescue and Emergency Response course back in the 2008 -2009 time frame.
Members invited Todd back to refresh many members who took the previous trainings as well as instruct several of our newer and Junior Company members in the basics involved in Water Rescue.
Topics for the evening included scene assessment, activation of the Emergency Response System, evaluation of potential and existing water hazards, scene management, rescue vs. recovery, and personal safety measures. Material taught during this course met NFPA (National Fire protection Association) 1670 awareness level guidelines.
Thanks to Todd and the 19 members for giving of their Monday evening and continuing the high standard of training expected by Christiana Fire and the communities we serve. |
