On Tuesday evening November 1st, Company 5-2 volunteers were alerted for yet another accident in the 1100 block of Simmontown Road. Since wires were brought down during the previous weekend's storm, barricades were put up blocking the roadway. Tuesday evening's accident was the second involving a vehicle going around the barricade and hitting the wires.
Crew members out on a fire inspection at Freedom Life Chapel, responded immediately with Engine 5-2-1 and Tanker 5-2-2. Tanker 5-2-1 also fielded a crew and responded within minutes. Captain 5-2-1 and Deputy 5-2 arrived to find a pickup wrapped in the wires lying on its side with a single female trapped. Both 5-2 and 4-2 crews arrived and performed stabilization while setting up to lay the roof down to extricate the patient.
Patient was extricated at 19:06 with crews going available at 20:12.
