At 12:24 on Thursday the busy day for the 5-2 house was continuing. Southern Chester County units were operating on a working Brush/Hay fire close to the Delaware line and requested Tanker 5-2-1 to transfer to Station 23 (Avondale) for a cover assignment.
Tanker 5-2-1 (Captain Wallace) with a crew of 5 responded within minutes of the dispatch.
Arriving at the Avondale station, personnel began to settle in for what was imagined to be a lengthy standby event. Little did they know that other plans were in store for them just minutes after arrival.
