By Lieutenant Randy Buckwalter
November 19, 2010

While on a cover to Longwood Station 25, Chester County Communications alerted Engine 5-2-1 at 18:50 hrs to assist Delaware County station 5-9 (Concordville) at 336 Lea Drive in Birmingham Twp, Chester County. Battalion 25 (Mitchell/Meadowcroft) and Engine 5-2-1(Fisher) responded at dispatch with a crew of 5 personnel.

Battalion 25 and Engine 5-2-1 arrived first due and were directed to inspect the townhouse for the CO and report. A crew from 5-2 proceeded into the home and metered all floors of the private dwelling. Concordville Engine 594 arrived several minutes later and joined up with 5-2 crew. The interior crews found nothing evident and Battalion 25 and Engine 5-2-1 were released from the scene by Command 59 (Nelling).

Earlier in the evening the engine also ran an Automatic Fire Alarm with standby companies Chesco East Brandywine Engine 49 and Montco Abington Ladder 100 that was cancelled as a false trip.

Company 5-2 would like to express our most sincere condolences to the Longwood Fire Company and the family of firefighter McGovern. We would also like to thank Acting Battalion Chief Mitchell for his assistance through out the evening.

Units: Engine 5-2-1
