| Christiana Fire Company held its fundraiser breakfast on December 19, 2009 from 6 to 10 AM. Even though Mother Nature felt like delivering a white Christmas a little early, the vounteers who work the regularly scheduled breakfast showed up to prepare a wonderful meal.
The breakfast, which draws an average of about 200 people, served around 100 people - even with the snow falling outside (heavy at times). We even had the pleasure of having Santa stop by from 8 to 10 AM to visit with everyone and listen to all the things the children may want for Christmas this year.
Those people who ventured out were able to enjoy wonderfully good food such as eggs, pancakes, sausage, bacon, scrapple, toast and more. Kudos goes out to our fill in bacon chef - Chief 5-2 (Bukwalter) who did an excellent job filling in for our regular bacon cooker who was not able to attend. Firefighter Tim Manley used his past work skills to assist in the kitchen as a dishwasher (the regular volunteer was not able to be there) and Driver Steve Riley did his time in time in the kitchen. There were other firefighters from our station who did duties that they might not otherwise do at one of the other scheduled breakfasts.
THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU WHO VENTURED OUT TO JOIN US FOR OUR BREAKFAST!!! We hope you enjoyed your meal as much as we did being able to bring it to you!
Our next breakfast is scheduled for January 2010 - be sure to check the online calendar for more information on this delicious meal (and a chance to support your Christiana Fire Company). |
