August 30, 2009

Early Sunday morning at 0537 hours, the Christiana Fire Company was alerted to the area of Brick Mill Road and Lower Valley Road in Sadsbury Township for a vehicle fire. Chief 5-2 (Buckwalter) marked up shortly after dispatch and received supplemental information from County Communication that a pickup truck was on fire in the area of the old low grade railroad.

Chief 5-2 and Chief 5-2-2 (Meadowcroft) arrived at 0544 hours finding a truck well involved on the old railroad property. Chief 5-2 assumed the "Command 5-2." Engine 5-2-1 (Lofgren) made the response with a crew of six, followed by Tanker 5-2-1 (Rylee). The Engine arrived at 0547 hours and advanced a single attack line up the embankment to knock down the blaze. The Command placed the fire under control at 0557 hours.

The Engine and Tanker were clear the scene by 0645 hours, while both Chiefs stayed to assist the State Police and Null's Towing until 0930 hours.

This fire is under investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal's Office.
