Atglen Borough Hazmat Incident

Thursday, November 10, 2022 @ 20:43 p.m.

Station 52 was dispatched for a vehicle accident involving possible hazardous materials w/ fire in the area of Routes 41 and 372 in Atglen Borough. Within minutes Engine 521 & Engine -Tanker 52 arrived to find a small passenger vehicle and a tractor trailer overturned across the entire roadway. A vapor cloud caused by a leaking container of liquid nitrogen sent out a request for a fire police task force to close Route
41 in both directions from Route 10 in Chester County to Route 30 in Lancaster County. Additional units assisting on scene, Rescue 8 & Tanker 8 from Keystone Fire, Chester County Hazmat 15, Nulls Towing. Units operated 4 1/2 hours on scene to bring the situation under control.
