7/28/2020 @ 18:19 hours Station 52 was dispatched for Tanker 52 to respond on the 3rd Alarm Barn fire in Martic Township at 83 Douts Hill Road reported as a Chicken House 100 ' X 600' with 2 additional buildings as exposures. Tanker 52 arrived on location at 18:42 hours, joining 21 other tankers from Lancaster, Chester & York counties. While our unit delivered multiple loads of water to the scene from two different fill sites, our crew of 5 firefighters went forward to assist with suppression and overhaul of the fire ground. Our crew worked the incident until just after midnight before returning, spending an additional hour cleaning airpacks & tools after arrival at station. Amazingly, thru out the entire large scale operation their were no injuries to any firefighters or civilians, however, besides the total loss of the building sadly 42,000 chickens perished in the blaze.
