Station 52 alerted to assist station 42 ( Gap ) with a commercial building fire ( Weis Market ), within minutes Engine- Tanker 52 & Engine 521 responded. Prior to arrival Command 42 requested the 2nd Alarm assignment. As crews were entering the structure , conditions began to deteriorate. With thick smoke banked to the floor and a partial roof collapse on side "C" crews were evacuated while command struck the 3rd alarm. Exterior operations continued with master streams flowing water as fire started to vent thru the roof. Crews were able to re-enter the structure after the bulk of fire was knocked and ventilation practices cleared most of the smoke. Interior crews continued to operate with overhaul & salvage until being released around 10:00 AM.
