PASSING OF LIFETIME MEMBER HARRY "STEVE" RYLEE

It is with deep sorrow the Christiana Fire Company announces the passing of life time member, brother, and friend Harry "Steve" Rylee age 67, of Christiana, PA. Steve passed away at his home on Saturday, June 24, 2017. He was the husband of Betty L. Young Rylee, with whom he would have celebrated 40 years of marriage on August 13th. He was born in Lancaster, son of the late Harry M. & Mary E. Pierson Rylee. He attended Freedom Life. He graduated from Octorara High School, class of 1968. Steve worked at Sealed Air Corp. of Modena for 40 years, retiring in 2007. He then worked for the Octorara Area School District in the custodial department. In his retirement he enjoyed providing transportation to the Amish community. He was a lifetime member of the Christiana Community Ambulance and the Christiana Fire Company, where in the past he was Assistant Chief. He was also a member of the Broadkill Beach Association. Steve loved spending time at his summer home at Broadkill Beach, where he enjoyed hosting July 4th parties, crabbing, fishing, boating and spending time with his family.

Surviving besides his wife are 3 children: Eric S. husband of Angie M. Benner Rylee, Kyle M. husband of Crystal L. Hanna Rylee, Courtney E. Rylee all of Christiana, 6 grandchildren and a granddogger Lyla. He was preceded in death by a sister Janet R. Hicks.

Funeral service will take place from the Shivery Funeral Home, 111 Elizabeth Street, Christiana, PA on Tuesday, June 27th at 11 a.m. with a viewing time from 9 a.m. until time of service.
