At 17:46 hours, the Christiana Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident in the area of 275 Route 41. The box 2312 assignment included station 52 and a Rescue out of Gap Fire Company (station 42).

Initial reports stated a 3 vehicle accident with 1 trapped in the automobile. Captain 52 (Lofgren) went enroute at 17:47 hours and was on seen 17:49 taking Command 52. Prior to his arrival, the individual who called in the accident told Lancaster 911 that they were able to open the door and that the reported individual was not trapped but sitting in their car.

Engine 52-1 (Captain Stoltzfus) went responding at 17:49 hours with a full crew of 6 firefighters. Arriving on the scene at the same time as Rescue 42, the crews from both companies worked to stabilize vehicles, check on injuries and begin to secure the scene for safety since Route 41 is a busy roadway in our area.

Tanker 52-1 (FF Baker) went responding at 17:51 hours with a crew of 6 members followed by Squad 52-1 with a crew of 5 responders.

With the number of individuals involved in the accident, Command 52 requested a third BLS unit (Chester County Ambulance 8 - Keystone Valley Fire Department) to the scene to assist with patient transportation.

With no entrapment, Rescue 42 was released at 18:03 hours while the crew from Christiana Fire Company continued with scene cleanup and waited for the arrival of a local tow truck to remove those vehicles that were unable to drive away.

All station 52 units were cleared at 18:50 hours and returned to the fire house available for any other calls.
