At 08:00 hours the pagers went off for the volunteers to assist White Horse Fire Company (Station 49) with a 2nd alarm barn fire.

Station 49 was dispatched at 07:53 hours for a reported Chicken House on fire. Deputy 49 and Assistant 49 arrived on location to find an approximately 500' chicken house well involved and requested a 2nd alarm assignment on the box.

The second alarm assignment brought out Tanker 52-1 to assist at the scene. The Tanker crew went enroute at 08:05 hours and was on location within 9 minutes. The tanker crew went to the man power staging area in case they would be needed while Chief Reimold (driver of Tanker 52-1) connect a supply line to Engine 49-1 and supplied them with water for fire fighting operations.

Once a solid water supply was established from the Pequea Creek (located nearby) and the fire was under control (09:10 hours); Tanker 52-1 was released and the crews returned to station at 10:55 hours.

The Christiana Fire Company would like to offer our thoughts and prayers to the family who sustained the loss of their property. This was the same area that had been hit by a tornado in February of this year and much of this area had been rebuilt or repaired following that storm on 2/24/15.
