At 17:04 hours, LCWC alerted the Christiana Fire Company vollies of a dwelling fire in the 200 block of Norwood Street with a grease fire on the stove top contained to the stove top.

Assistant Chief Buckwalter was marked enroute at 19:09 hours with the Engine crew following at 19:13 hours. The first alarm assignment also brought Engine 27-1 (Cochranville; Chester), Engine 42-2, Rescue 42, Rescue 8 (Keystone Valley; Chester), Tanker 52-1 and Truck 42.

Assistant Chief Buckwalter confirmed that the fire had been extinguished by the home owner and held the assignment to Engine 52-1.

Thanks to the quick thinking of the homeowner, the fire was able to be contained to the stove top. While the house sustained substanial fire and smoke damage in the kitchen area - it could have been a lot worse if they had not acted like they did.

Christiana Fire Company would like to remind our community that it is okay to extinguish a small fire (like a small waste can, pot on the stove, etc.) but remember that fire can spread VERY quickly and your first response should be to safely evacuate everyone from the premises and ensure your safety and well being.

Units: Engine 52-1
