Dry Weather Continues to Affect Area

Multi run Sunday was another example of the recent open burning and dry weather issues throughout the area. At 1254hrs Sunday afternoon Lancaster County Wide Communications alerted Christiana Fire along with Bart Twp and Gap Fire companies for a reported outbuilding fire at 14 Upper Valley Road in Sadsbury Township. Captain 52-1 (Lofgren), marked enroute receiving additional of a possible garage with explosions. Engine 52-1 marked up with 6 personnel followed by Tanker 52-1 and Tanker 52-2.

Assistant 52 arrived confirming the report of multiple sheds with direct exposure to a mobile home and RV. Engine 52-1 arrived and deployed three lines to the rear of the home controlling the main fire, Cooling down exposure issues and controlling a small woods area fire. Bart units along with Gap personnel were asked to verify no extension to the exposures.

Several minutes into the incident County dispatchers alerted Command 52 of a second call in the district at 196 Christiana Pike in Sadsbury Township for a reported Woods fire approximately ½ acre involved. Brush 52 along with Engine 42-2 and Tanker 51 were sent to this call while others wrapped up the structure fire.

A late afternoon dispatch at 1644hrs, had Brush 52 making a run into Chester County, assisting Cochranville fire with a Brush fire at 30 Schapansky Road in West Fallowfield Township, Chester County. First arriving 27 units reported 100ft of fence line off, holding the assignment to Cochranville units only.
