Monday evening as crews were wrapping up a night of maintenance checks, the Inter-county communications picked up an alarm being relayed from Chester to Lancaster County. The alarm received at 2015hrs was for a reported dwelling fire assist to Keystone Valley FD at 560 Zion Hill Road in West Sadsbury Township, Chester County.

Alerted members quickly staffed Engine 52-1, Tanker 52-1, Tanker 52-2, Squad 52-1 and Duty 52 for the hop across the county line. Engine 52-1 (Deputy Fisher) marked enroute at 2015hrs and arrived on the scene within a couple minutes of dispatch reporting a Single Family Dwelling with Smoke from sides A & D. E1’s crew dismounted and grabbed tools for forcible entry along with a charged line and proceeded thru side A doorway encountering moderate fire. Deputy Fisher continued his initial 360 check and assumed Operations until relieved by an arriving Keystone Valley officer. Tanker 52-1 and Tanker 52-2 arrived soon after hooking up the supply to Engine 1. Keystone valley arrived and made entry in the A & B corner. CFC & KVFD crews worked together along with Gap, Cochranville and several other mutual aid departments in bringing the blaze under control a short time later.

Crews worked several hours on suppression and salvage/overhaul operations before picking up just before 2300 hours.

Thanks to Tanker 43 (Gordonville Fire) and the crew for the help in the cleanup of equipment getting the 52 apparatus back in service quickly.
