Thursday night’s run started out as an Automatic Fire Alarm response for Bart Township Fire to 34 Hickory Drive in Bart Township, Lancaster County. Lancaster County Wide Communication was receiving the call as a result of a tripped basement smoke detector.

Initial crews made the response and arrived several minutes later requesting to “fill the box” as a result of smoke showing from the home per Fire Lieutenant 51-1. Deputy 51 also arrived soon after confirming the report. The upgraded box brought additional units from Quarryville (57), Christiana (52) and Gap (42) along with EMS.

Engine 51-1 arrived and provided a good stop in not allowing the fire to extend to the rest home from the involved garage area. Crews from Quarryville and Christiana arrived and immediately went to work assisting. Q-ville crews worked to gain access to the garage area while Christiana crews were sent to the basement.

Christiana crews remained on the scene for just over an hour assisting in overhaul operations in the garage and basement areas before returning at 0130hrs Friday morning.
