At 1431hrs on Saturday afternoon, Christiana Fire along with Truck 42 (Gap Fire) were dispatched to 125 Sadsbury Avenue in Sadsbury Township for a reported Chimney Fire. Caller reported the house to be filling with smoke and an inlet pipe to wall was glowing.

Captain 1 (Lofgren) marked up receiving additional and was on the scene moments later with normal conditions from the outside. After a brief interior check, it was determined that the pellet stove used in heating the house had a creosote build-up where the pipe entered the wall.

Engine 52’s crew was given interior operations of the 2 ½ story SFD. Truck 42 was to setup and go to the roof as a precaution. After disassembling the pellet stove, pipe and a brief clean out of the inlet to the wall, it was confirmed that no extension had taken place. Truck 42 was bedded and released while 52 crews removed the stove from the home and the residents were permitted back inside.
