As part of the recently awarded Holmatro Rescue Tool grant, members took this week to finish the delivery and instructional part of the purchase by hosting Instructor Jim Artz from ESI Equipment. Members gathered both Monday and Wednesday evenings to train on the new tools in preparation of the soon to be “in service” date. Since Christiana Fire has been a member of the Holmatro family for many years, the focus of the two nights were more with usage, application and capabilities.

Monday evening took 30+ members to Null’s Towing in Cochranville to start the process by a quick tool review followed by cutter, spreader and ram techniques. Basic “door pop”, roof removals as well as dash pushes were reviewed and performed. Wednesday evening found many members back at Null’s reviewing on Monday night’s events as well as covering two-door removal techniques.

Special thanks to Jim Artz from ESI Equipment Inc. for the instruction as well as Null’s Towing for the vehicles and location to make the training happen. Also thanks to Gap & Gordonville Fire Companies for the coverage while we were training.
