Christiana crews were called out late Thursday night as part of an initial 1A Building alarm in the area of 85 Dry Wells Road in Bart Township, Lancaster County. Original calls at 2310hrs had a large building on fire with some exposure issues. All occupants were reported out. Chief 51 (Dave King) received the information on his response and soon went on location reporting a fully involved 30’ x 80’ structure at 95 Dry Wells Road.

As part of the 1 alarm dispatch, Tanker 52-2 streeted within minutes soon followed by 2nd alarm apparatus including Tanker 52-1, Engine 52-1 and Squad 52-1 all with full staffing levels. Crews arrived with Chief 52 (Reimold) taking Manpower Staging and Captain 52-1 (Lofgren) taking Water Supply Operations. All other members’ tool’d up and reported to the scene while both tankers jumped into the tanker shuttle.

As most crew members worked the building fire, additional crew members maintained a presence in station to assist the incoming standby company in case anything came in in the ‘52’ local.

Christiana crews worked several hours along with many other departments in bringing the blaze under control at 0057hrs Friday morning. All ‘52’ apparatus cleared the scene just before 0300hrs, returning to station.

Special Thanks to Honeybrook Fire and Engine 33-5 for the standby while our crews worked the blaze.
