Route 41 MVA with Confinement

At 1641hrs Wednesday afternoon, Christiana Fire was alerted for a reported Vehicle Accident at the intersection of Route 41 and Route 372 in Atglen Borough, Chester County. Engine 52-1 along with Ambulance 46-1 were on for the 2313 box assignment.

Duty 52 (Chief Reimold) responded immediately after dispatch receiving an update from Lancaster County Wide 911 of several reports, some indicating on 41 north of 372. Engine 52-1 made the response with 6 personnel while Chief 52 and Assistant 52 arrived to investigate. It was confirmed the accident was north of the intersection involving two vehicles. With the possibility of the location being in West Sadsbury Chester County, LCWC was requested to have Chester station 8 (Keystone Valley) dispatched. Assistant 52 took the command while Chief 52 checked and advised on patients. Additional BLS and ALS units were then requested as the total patients jumped to three with two being ALS. Chief 52 also confirmed confinement on vehicle #2.

Engine 52-1 went on arrival receiving instruction of stabilization, de-power and putting the tool in service for extrication. Keystone units arrived and supported working crew members. Patient was soon extricated and turned over to awaiting EMS. Keystone Fire remained at the scene while 52 units cleared at 1729hrs.
