Electrical Fire in Atglen Borough

On Sunday evening at 2034 hours, the Christiana Fire Company along with Mutual Aid units were alerted to 312 Norwood Street in Atglen Borough for a reported house on fire.

Chief 52(Reimold) marked enroute at dispatch and was given supplemental information reporting a fire in the basement. Captain 522 (Wallace) responded to the scene from his residence in Atglen and reported a Dryer fire with a basement full of smoke. Chief 52 arrived and assumed the "Norwood Street Command".

Captain 522 confirmed the fire to be out and the assignment was reduced to Engine 26-1 and Engine 521. Engine 26-1 (Atglen) arrived and provided lighting as well as sending manpower to the basement. Engine 521 arrived soon after with Chief 522 assuming operations. Crews set up to ventilate the basement while information was being gathered from the homeowner.

A quick response by a neighbor and the homeowner with an extinguisher prevented further damage to the residence.

Personnel wrapped up and were released from the scene at 2121 hours. Chief 52 along & Captain 522 remained on the scene awaiting the Fire Marshal.
