The day began with a pre-arranged cover standby at the 23 house in Chester County. Avondale Fire Company requested a Pumper Tanker standby for the day so they could go and enjoy a Parade and Housing for the Twin Valley Fire Company. Crew members gathered and departed for Avondale shortly after 6am. Tanker 521 stood by for most of the day running one incident while there. This was for a reported mulch fire which was recalled after further investigation. With Tanker 1 out of the area most of the day, company 52 maintained a strong presence in station with multiple crews available if another incident occurred.

While Tanker 1 was out on the standby, community members gathered to start on our Chicken Pot Pie dinner, scheduled for later that day. Additional 52 members arrived around 1300hrs to prepare for the take out portion which took place from 1400 to 1600hrs. Sit down meals began after from 1600 to 2000hrs.

With the dinner wrapping up, Company 52 received an alert for a reported vehicle accident in front of 15 Sadsbury Avenue, Sadsbury Township. Duty 52 (Captain Wallace) went enroute receiving additional of unknown injuries and a van into a pole. Tanker 521 (Lieutenant Swift) was arriving back in the area when the dispatch came in and made the response. Engine 521 (Asst. Buckwalter) immediately followed with a crew of 6 while Tanker 522 (FF Mendenhall) and Squad 52 also responded with full crews. Crews arrived to confirm the report and borough Police talking to the driver. With hazards controlled, all units with the exception of Tanker 521 returned to station to assist in the dinner cleanup.

Special thanks to Avondale Fire for your hospitality and to our community volunteers for the work in dinner preparations.
