On Wednesday, April 04 at 12:37hrs, Volunteers from Station 5-2 were dispatched for an outbuilding at 1162 Simmontown Road in Sadsbury Township.
Ambulance 5-2-1 was first on scene advising fire in a garage type building attached to a house. Engine 5-2-1 responded shortly after and requested LCWC to upgrade the nature of the call to a dwelling and to add a second-alarm due to several reports. This brought out volunteers from different companies from Lancaster and Chester County. First-in units from Christiana and Gap made an aggressive knock-down of the fire that had complete possession of the garage and the breeze way area. Fire was also found extending into the attic space of the main house. Crews worked to stop the extension and to bring the situation under control. IUC at 11:35hrs. Salvage and overhaul operations along with assistance to PSP Fire Marshall's were conducted by remaining crews.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. PPL was also requested to the scene due to the utilities. Station 5-2 was available at 15:34.
