| The crew from Station 5-2 held our weekly training tonight at the firehouse. Firefighter Wood ran a session utilizing the skills to rescue an injured firefighter without the assistance of a RIT (Rapid Intervention Team).
Crews were divided into groups with two firefighters being the first attack on a small fire when a roof collapse injured one of them. The remaining crew members that were in "staging" were then asked to work through the evolution of getting the injured firefighter out. After the evolution was complete, the crews critiqued the session to learn what they could have done better. This evolution was ran a few times to give all members a chance to be in different aspects of the training.
After we finished with this training, there was some questions on the use of a TIC (Thermal Imaging Camera) to find people. Firefighter Baker and Firefighter Wood then broke into an additional training on the use of a TIC to find patients. The crews participated in the old fashion game of "hide and seek" with using the TIC to find the hidden members.
Station 5-2 would like to thank Firefighter Wood for taking the time to develop this training and for providing the supervision and direction for the membership. |
